If there's one word that can be used to sum up the video game expos of 2013, it would be "amazement". 2013 is all about next-gen gaming and 2013's game expos get never-before-seen attention because of next-gen gaming. Most expos in 2013 see the biggest attendee number in the history.
PAX East is the prologue of the amazement, and E3 is the climax. ChinaJoy is sexy as usual while Gamescom is full of next-gen battles. BlizzCon comes back with tons of new stuff and G-Star is a good conclusion to the whole year. Explore the next few pages to walk through these expos again.

E3 2013

This year, E3 brought us to the epicenter of the video game industry. Cool titles for PS3 and Xbox360 pushed out as we jumped for joy over the coming of Sony’s PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One.
E3 2013

Gamescom 2013

This is the 7th carnival that Blizzard held for their fans. Players from all around the world came to California to celebrate their favorite games together. BlizzCon 2013

G-Star 2013

Some big game companies like NCsoft, WeMade and NHN didn’t attend this year’s G-Star as they didn’t have any new projects for this exhibition. Korean government’s labeling online game as an addiction could be another reason. It was a pity that no new Korean client-based titles were announced at G-Star this year.
At G-Star, we play game together and dream forever.
G-Star 2013

G-1 Champions League

Starting in 2011, G1 has become the largest Dota 2 tournament in China. G1 2013 welcomed foreign teams Alliance and Team Liquid for the first time.
This event will be remembered by fans as Alliance triumphed on the Chinese soil, and thus became the first non-Chinese team to crown this tournament. With a reward of ¥400,000, roughly $66,000, the fifth season was one of the biggest Dota 2 events ever hosted.

There are both repeatable and non-repeatable quests in Hearthstone, and each kind of quest comes with its own reward.

In Heroes of the Storm, each hero offers different strengths and weaknesses depending on their role. Warriors such as Diablo can dive right into a melee, soaking up damage and dealing it back. Assassins like Kerrigan deal tremendous damage and can pick off unsuspecting enemies, but must choose their battles carefully, as they can dish more than they can take. Support heroes like Uther can swing the tide of battle, assisting with healing, buffs, or other abilities to manipulate the battle in the favor of allies. Other types include the siege and commander heroes, which are more specialized roles that bring different strengths as you build a team.

2013 is an extraordinary year for the video game market because of the launch of Xbox One and PS4. Thanks to the release of next-gen consoles and the announcements of next-gen games like The Division, The Crew, Warhammer 40K Eternal Crusade, etc., the MMO genre has a good year.
We don't really get our hands on next-gen MMO in 2013, but we do have MMOs that are already playable on PS4, so 2013 is probably the last year that current-gen MMOs can take all rewards home. We won't ignore mobile games, on the other hand, which is expected to reach 51 billion this year.

MMO of the year

Final Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy XIV was a huge project and Square Enix failed to deliver the quality in the original version. They spent nearly 2 years redeveloping the game which was then named A Realm Reborn. Although the game has a PC version and a console version, Square actually optimized the game for the 2 different platforms separately.

Best Role-playing MMO

Path Of Exile

Path of Exile is a game uses the basic settings that many Diablo followers have used, and a game developed by a team with two or three million dollars' budget (The Old Republic was reportedly cost several hundred millions to make). This game is definitely not a blockbuster, but it's fun, though not perfect.

Best free-to-play MMO

Age of Wushu

If you are a fan of Chinese culture and MMO that offer lots of freedom, you won’t regret a second for checking this game out. Players will master a variety of martial skills as they delve into a unique storyline that takes them all over China. The game features freestyle combat and strips away traditional MMO staples like levels and fixed class roles.

Best casual MMO

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft

At PAX East 2013, Blizzard surprised people with the announcement of this digital, free-to-play, collectible card game based in the Warcraft universe. Whether you’ve played this game or not, read on and see why it’s chosen as 2P’s Best Casual MMO in 2013.

Best competition

Dota 2

2013 is an important year of Dota 2. We all witness the development of Dota 2. Valve also does their best to make the game better and better, but Dota 2 has long way to go. New heroes, player stats and regularization of the market will be the most concerned problems in 2014.

Best shooter MMO

I recently gave my first impressions on the new third person, shooter MMO called Defiance. Since all of that information remains true, I would recommend you go read that first before carrying on. Done? Good, now I will regal you with stories from the tattered landscape of the San Francisco Bay area.

Best mobile game

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Rockstar's GTA 5 has become one of the biggest hits in this year's video game market. At the end of 2013, Rockstar dropped another boom in the mobile game market, expecting to expand their territory. The mobile version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is a revival of the 2004 action game for PC and console, and it still provides a lot of fun, although its graphics is a little bit outdated.

Best graphics

Final Fantasy XIV

Graphics is one of the most outstanding parts in the game. Square Enix enhanced the visual effect for A Realm Reborn and spent a lot of time optimizing the engine, thus, the game got a better graphics but the system requirement remained unchanged.
