Shards Online Unveils Dev Roadmap
Shards Online's last Kickstarter compaign has been failed since last month, but Citadel Studios doesn't lose the detemination to continue building this sandbox game. Today, the firm posted a new development roadmap on the game's official site and the studio's co-founder Derek Brinkmann explained how the team is performing its dev plan "to get to an alpha state as soon as possible."
Shards Online is a new free-to-play, player-driven, sandbox MMORPG. Heavily inspired by "Ultima Online", this game features a wide variety of rule sets, including player customization of their own. Getting rid off some conventions of modern MMO such as levels, classes and quest grinds, the game will introduce a lot of new features like "Skill based character development", "Dynamic and emergent content", "Multi-verse spanning many genres", etc.
The game launched its crowdfunding campaign in Kickstarter with the goal of $320,000 by Jun 12, 2014, but eventually was not yet to reach the goal before the target date arrived. As of now, Citadel Studios has launched the game's official website. To learn more about the development of this game, check out the Shards Online's development roadmap below.
