ArcheAge Mounts Preview and Leveling Guide
Update: add some information about mounts leveling
After two days hard work, I finish the test of mounts system of Archeage and translated Korean into English. As the official English names of pets and skills are not released yet, all of the names appear in this article are temporary. Final names will be determined by Archeage official. So just have a watch with your light mood, don’t bless the names in this article.
With the release of ArcheAge, more and more players are putting their weight on this new Korean game and eager to know more about its features. Here are some guides about mounts which will company you to save your energy and explore the desired locations faster while going through the world.
The functions of Mount-pets
Help massage your tired body after you off work? Guard your home when you are out? Let you fondle their furry while you are sitting your rocking chairs? Ha-ha, just a kidding. Maybe they can do these in the visual world one day, but in this game the main functions are used for travelling, and attacking enemies, they act also like a "pet" which are present in a number of MMOs.
How can you get your baby mounts guys?
First, you should find the quest in Ferre starting map which shows newbie the relevant mount to get and place to fine. It is a mount-pets site usually on the left side of Ferre newbie map, quite easy for a newbie to find. At the outside of the mount-pets site you can find a mount manager who has many horses in the stable. You just tip the stable and an interface will show you to buy one. Press yes you can get the lovely horse. You can have a try.
Leveling your mounts
I know these below are too long for some guys who like to get guides within a short time and without paying any energy to read. so you can just skip down to read the tips directly.
Mounts have their own level system and in order to keep them gaining XP quickly, they must be summoned while you are killing the mobs. But please remember deeply your mounts will not get any XP when you turns your quests, nor from gathering or crafting items. Therefore you have to take care of your mounts and keep them far away from the potential risks, since they can die easily and lose their XP.
Mounts are getting XP from the distance they travel, they are not getting a single XP from killing mobs, battle pets are getting their XP from killing mobs. Also many players said to me that their mounts were getting XP while they were out and they were killing mobs, well thats because they had to run from mob to mob and the mount kept following them so they "traveled a distance". Many players were leveling the mounts by putting heavy items on WD keys to keep them pressed while riding them, and go AFK while their mounts keep running in circles (i don't think this method is still available, a recent patch fixed it).
Like other MMOs every live in the game has relative HP, after it is over, the live is over (you can say die). The most stupid and simple way is to unsummon your mount fast and resummon them again after the danger is over (don’t laugh at me I have told you it is a stupid way). If god is not on your side (I mean you are unlucky) you can temporary resurrect it, but it will have only 1 HP and will run slower than before. As the old saying goes, where there is problem, there is solution. You can lead you mounts to the NPCs near the stable and review your mount under some cost (it depends on your mounts level). The only place you can review your mount is on the starting continents, but not north continents. If you are rich you can buy some items from the stable NPCs to regenerate your mounts.
But there are two ways to gain XP which are different from current MMOs. Moving your mounts can also improve their XP, although it is a little boring that you have to move your pets consequently with your shortage two hands. ( If I have three, I will). And another way is just running near by the horsekeeper and leading his direction. ( quite easy isn’t it?)
1 sharing the victory of mobs with you
2moving some certain distance.
3the one near horsekeeper and lead him can get more XP
