Boom Beach is a new game developed by SuperCell and features similar systems to Clash
of Clans so that old players can pick it up easily. In order to bring a different feeling to
players, several innovations are made. The game has fine graphics and stylish characters,
but if you're an old player for CoC, you may be tired of these.
Although the biggest European mobile company Supercell is a pretty young one, all of its
core members are elites in game industry. The founder Ilkka Paananen is the former head
of Digital Chocolate, while another founder Mikko Kodisoja is the former vice-president
of that company, and other founding members have more than ten years experiences in
The most significant philosophy of Supercell is to remain small to make excellent games. I am with the team on this idea. Traditional and large teams are also exploring this notion,
and the development team of Blizzard's new game "Hearthstone " only has 15 people,

have different feeling.
New change: world map
World map is the biggest difference between Boom Beach and CoC. In CoC, players defend
or attack only through the log. It seems to be more intuitive and convenient, but it lacks the
feeling of playing with real players. In Boom Beach, players could have large territories and
it's very clear to see who is occupying their land, and then they can choose to scout, attack
or find a new opponent. With islands, players feel they are connected and able to interact
with each other.
Once a player named OmarS and I fought for a resource island for many times, and the owner
of the island changed several times in a day. Each time a resource island gets a new owner,
the island's defense become stronger. The battle between us had to stop when I can no
longer capture it. But I never choose to find a new player, because I hope one day I can get
this resource island back, it's become my goal.
World map not only increases the interaction between players, but also brings the game fresh
experience. There are also NPC islands which provide decent amount of resources for players.
Every now and then the army of Hammerman will come and seize the player's islands, and the
NPC defense gets stronger as players level up, but after all, they are just like a dessert
compared to the main course of player versus player content.
From defensive to aggressive: Combat operation innovation
In order to reduce the threshold and complexity of the game, players are unable to control
units in battle in CoC. Clearly, Supercell hope to make some different designs on the new
game. Boom beach adds a range of energy consumptive skills, players can choose the most
appropriate skills on the battlefield. Because on the battle, each skill using will increase the
energy consumption, players can't constantly use the same skills without thinking on same
battle, then players should scout the enemy's island and choose the best plan about army
and skills to rob it, by the way, players can reduce consumption to attack an island, as well
as seemingly watertight enemy can be defeated by using energy skills.
The most worth mentioning skills are Flare and Artillery. Flare can direct your troops for a
period of time on the battlefield, when you use it, all units will move or attack following
Flares' instructions. Artillery can cause high damage, players can use the artillery to root
out some dangerous defensives. I always use Artillery and Flare to capture opponents'
vulnerability and win, using Artillery to destroy the significant defensive and using heavy
(meat shield in this game) to attract the damage from the tower as well as using Flare to
direct Zookas with their advantage of attacking range to sneak attack enemy's headquarters
without any loss.
Boom Beach modifies another design: as long as the players win, alive troops on the
battlefield will return to the base, players just need to supply the loss of army then they
can go to the battle once again. The new design combines with rich operation in battles,
greatly increasing the players' thinking about tactics. Different formations deliberate out
facing combination, then pick the best to attack without losing - it's brilliant!
Boom Beach start with 6 units, tank, long-range fires, melee firepower, and supply units,
these units positioning can be found in CoC, such as Heavy in Boom Beach and Giant in
CoC, both of them are tank, as well as Boom Beach's Zooka and CoC's wizard represent
remote fire. But as the game in the middle period, the disadvantage of only six arms begin

When Boom Beach was in test phase in Canada last year, some game critics published their
testing report, which referred the way of charging in Boom Beach was more humanized, Boom
Beach even removed the paid farmers! Since the game officially released, this advantage
has been retained. Diamonds can be obtained in various ways as well as players can get
enough to use per day. However, players can also accelerate progress by buying more
diamonds. Although Boom Beach seems very similar to CoC at first time, during this experience, we
can feel that they are totally different games. As Supercell launched the significant update
clan wars for CoC, Boom Beach was launched in global at the same time, it seems like they
don't worry about the competition between these games. Boom Beach gives an intuitive and
non-threshold gaming experience for us. As the old players in CoC, now I fully play these
games every day, it's brilliant!
Undoubtedly Boom Beach is an excellent game, it shows excellent design and manufacturing
capacity of Supercell again. This game is well made and full of fun, combining with the strong
ability of promotion in global market, it became an S stage game. Maybe the only problem to
prevent it increasingly popular is it looks like CoC too much.
