Neverwinter 2nd Beta Weekend Featuring the Undead
The second beta weekend of Neverwinter is running and this time, the leading threat is the undead, instead of the Orcs in first Beta Weekend.
In the prologue of the game, the undead is the adventurers' first-meet enemies in Neverwinter. Different from the beta last month, they revamped the prologue and added a small part of story before the bridge war. When you are arriving Neverwinter, your allies are under attacked by dracolich, which was appearing in the clip of Siege of Neverwinter.
Valindra Shadowmantle is leading the undead army to assault the castle. During the 2nd beta, we will meet four types of undead in the game. Wight is a powerful type of undead, who "died in a terrible manner", so he must be hate any living beings in this world. Wight is dealing damage with its soul-sucking abilities. Ghost is another common undead in Dragons&Dungeons lore. They are wandering aimlessly at the corners of Forgotten Realms. Besides, you will meet Ash Zombies and Blazing Skeletons. They are more like products of their environment in the corrupting area: Mount Hotenow. It is not terrible to fight against the scattered undead. However, when they are under the command of a powerful necromancer, the undead will become overwhelming. When the undead and dracolich are dead, their spirits will back to a secret place and "reborn" soon after that. If the adventurers can not bind the souls, the war against the undead will never reach an end.
During your quests in Neverwinter, you will encounter numerous undead creatures. They are normally found in areas of great death, sorrow, or tragedy like ancient graveyards.
Also, few powerful Necromancers, like Valindra Shadowmantle, possess dark magic and the ability to bring back the dead to fight under their command.
Actually, before 20th level, the majority of my story line is the battle against orcs in the first beta event. It seems like Cryptic might do some changes in the story line and carry more combat with the undead during the 2nd beta weekend.
