MapleStory 2 (CN) Open Beta Registration and Download Guide
MapleStory 2 will start open beta in China on September 21 and the game is published by Tencent Games. Since the western version is still not announced, playing the Chinese version first is not a bad choice for MapleStory fans. Thanks to Tencent's QQ account system, international players can register for an account easily. Read on to learn how to register and download the client.
Step 1: register a QQ account
QQ is an instant message and chatting app similar to skype. It's developed by Tencent and the QQ ID can log into all MMOs published by Tencent Games such as Blade & Soul, Moonlight Blade and Monster Hunter Online and of course MapleStory 2.
How to register?
Go to https://ssl.zc.qq.com/v3/index-en.html, follow the instructions and complete the registration. You will receive a QQ ID in the form of numbers. This QQ ID is unique to you and you will be using it as MapleStory 2 account.
Step 2: Download MapleStory 2 (CN) client and install it.
You can download the client now although you can't play until September 21.
1. Client download link: http://mxd2.qq.com/download.shtml. Click the left button to download the downloader.
2. Launch the downloader and start the download. If you get scrambled texts, try to change the locale to Chinese PRC.
3. Once the download is completed, press the yellow "INSTALL NOW" button.
And then press the yellow "NEXT" button to continue.
4. You can launch the game once your installation is completed. The game will automatically download the patches.
How to get a Chinese citizen ID number
In case a citizen ID is required to verify your account, head to this site: http://id.8684.cn/ to take one of the Chinese names and the ID numbers listed on it.
Note: all names and ID numbers are randomly generated but will work just fine
I will update this guide as we move close to the OBT. You can put your questions and issues in the comment and I will try my best you answer you. On the other hand, you can find more information about the game at the game hub.
How to fix scrambled texts
You will need to change your system locale to Simplified Chinese (PRC). Go to control panel -> region and language -> Administrative -> change system locale.
Once you are in the "change system locale" interface, find Chinese (Simplified, PRC). You will be prompted to restart your computer so follow the instruction and restart your computer.
