Final Fantasy XIV

Square Enix released Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn's official benchmark software a few days ago and we just ran it on our PC. If you don't know yet, A Realm Reborn is re-developed from the ground up with an updated engine. As the new FFXIV game gets better graphics, the system requirement remains the same (the developer said that before). We ran A Realm Reborn's benchmark as well as the original game's, and the result didn't disappoint us. Check it out.

The specs of our PC:

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 3.40GHz
RAM: 8GB
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 550Ti
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit

FFXIV: A Realm Reborn vs. FFXIV at maximum/high setting

Since these two benchmarks use different scenes, it might be not appropriate to make a comparison. However, both benchmarks contain various scenes from intense battle to peaceful village that can tell how well the game can run on your PC. And one thing that we can tell from running the benchmark is, FFXIV: ARR's graphics is amazing. The scores are:

Final Fantasy XIV (High 1920×1080): 2439

FFXIV: A Realm Reborn (Maximum 1920×1080): 2763

FFXIV: A Realm Reborn - maximum vs. high vs. medium

A Realm Reborn's benchmark provides three tiers of graphics presets: maximum, high and medium, and you can also make custom setting. Here we just tested the three presets on 1920×1080 resolution and the scores are:

Maximum: 2763 (verdict: Fairly High)
High: 3674 (verdict: High)
Medium: 5805 (verdict: Very High)

Conclusion

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has better graphics than original FFXIV while it doesn't require high-end PC to play. Most PCs can run the game on 1920×1080 resolution, though low-end PCs may have to lower the setting to "High" or "Medium". If you plan to play this game on PC when it's out, you can run this benchmark program on your computer.
