Housing System in Black Desert: Do It Yourself
Housing system is one of the key features in Black Desert. Every single house we met in game is not only a decoration on the gorgeous background, but act as an individual store to purchase and work. In contrast, unlike the housing system in other MMOs like ArcheAge, in Dark Desert housing system doesn't focus on building and decoration. They consider housing system as one of the key elements of the huge economy system in the game and every crafters (here are the players in the game) should own their stores to present and sell the armors, weapons, clothes, bags, runes, etc. And all players are able to enter any store to explore every corner inside, choose their favorite items and trade with the storekeepers. Mostly, they are players running this store rather than a lifeless NPC. By hiring sales NPCs in it, you houses can work as a private shop for item exchange.
Houses could be purchased by auction system. Players are able to participate in the auction bid, so are guilds. If guilds win the bid, they can own the house in the name of their guilds and use the houses at their discretion, like using it as clan-hall.

"Will anyone get chance to rule the housing market like purchase over 50% houses in game and sell them at a higher price? What's your plan to deal with monopoly in the game?" 2P journalists ever asked PearlAbyss in Gstar 2012. "Don't worry," the developer smiling, "they can only purchase the house in the area have explored and the map is huge enough to prevent a group of merchants from manipulating this market. Our economist will keep an eye on it."
Besides the store ideas, the developer talked more about the huge and creative crafting features in housing system. Some houses could be used for forging weapons and armors. Some huts in specific areas offer farmlands to grow variety types of crops. It will take players a few hours to cultivate and harvest and they can sell the fruits as goods to other crafters. The higher level the fruits are, the higher value they worth, which encourages players to improve farming skills so that they could farm well in game. Players can transport all fruits to other cities for a better price. If the city is far away, they could hire carriages to shorten the transport time. Some ill-disposed players choose to rob the goods on the road. The merchants need to take insurance or hire body guards to protect their goods from being robbed. Becoming body guard is also a novelty way to earn money.
Black Desert first showcased the housing system video online. Players would be able to arrange and customize their house decoration uniquely and put the house in the wild.
