Remember the words about WoW movie a while ago? It is much more reliable now. Duncan Jones, the director of two amazing Sci-fi movies, Moon and Source code, signed on to Lengendary Pictures to direct Warcraft movie, adapted from the Blizzard video game universe.
The movie is expected to have a budget north of $100 million. The script from Charles Leavitt is under wrap. However Legendary scheduled the film "a fall 2013 star and a 2015 release." They haven't revealed many details by far. All we know is that the project involves Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni from Legendary along with Blizzard and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Alex Garner.
This is not groundless. Duncan Jones has expressed his interest in WoW film in 2010 when this project is still in the hands of Sam Raimi.
I'm hugely jealous of Sam Raimi, I really believe World of Warcraft could be the launch of computer games as good films. And from the little I’ve read of interviews with him the way he's approaching it makes so much sense. It’s what I was talking about – it’s not worrying about how the game plays, it's about creating the world of the game and investing the audience in that world. Now his wishes come true, let’s hope Jones will bring us a fantastic experience of the movie. Personally I am really into Jones' style; he does good at dragging us to the story. But is he the best choice for WoW movie? What’s your opinion?
