Worldwide shipments of AR and VR headsets continued to soar with a total of 2.3 million units shipped in the first quarter of 2017, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC). With a long list of new products scheduled to ship in the second half of 2017, IDC is forecasting triple-digit growth for the full year.

Two-thirds of VR headsets sold were mobile headsets like Samsung’s Gear VR, Google’s Daydream View, and TCL’s Alcatel VR. The key tethered products making up the other third of the market are HTC Vive, Sony’s PlayStation VR, and Facebook’s Oculus Rift. You can check out the detail date below.

There is no surprise that Gear VR takes the top spot. PSVR and HTC Vive also did pretty well while the Facebook’s headset Oculus Rift sold slightly less than 100k units. Oculus drop its price from $599 to $499, and it also supports new touch controller and room-scale tracking. Although the company has faced some problems in retail space, the primary task is to open the major market like China.
