ASTA - Relaunch on Steam
ASTA is a free-to-play MMORPG using the CryEngine 3 which puts put you in an eastern fantasy world in which two opposing realms, the Asu and the Ora, are at war with one another. Having originally launched on March 2, 2016, this game suffered an unfortunate fate of not succeeding in the mmo genre due to much skepticism and security issues of the game and eventually shutting down on October 4, 2016. On April 26, 2017 this game will be available to the public once again under a new publisher, Move Games Co.,Ltd. This game was Greenlit on Steam in March including all of the main gameplay features. It is not known if all of the mishaps in the original game have been fixed already, however, there are some pre-launch goodies and events you can claim on the official Steam page.
ASTA withholds many features other traditional MMOs have included in their game stated on their official page which includes:
- Semi-Tab target system
- Housing system
- Character customization
- Stat Allocation/Investment system
- Two warring factions
- Massive boss Raids
- “Real-time” PVP battle system
- PVP, RVR systems
- Party, Guild, Trade, Auction systems
- Pets and Mounts
- “Realistic” Martial arts
This game reminds me more of a traditional MMO rather than something big and new, but that’s me being opinionated. The world of ASTA doesn’t look that half bad and features many diverse and soothing areas to relax and adventure in as well as them having a pretty sweet soundtrack to listen to. Most games I mute the music and listen to my own but their OST’s and such are very atmospheric and relaxing to the ears.
One very interesting mechanic the game of ASTA has is their stat-reallocation point system. This is a special feature you can use to further increase your character's 4 main attributes. You can access it form the Character Information Window (default hotkey “C”), and then by clicking the “Enhance” button at the bottom of the tab. By paying a small to large fee you can roll for stat increments or have the unlucky chance of decreasing your stats. It’s more of an RNG system in which you risk your stats for better ones. This feature becomes available around level 2.
Is the game worth investing into? That’s up for you to decide, but it’s still worth at least checking out the game to give it a try. Let’s just hope this game lasts longer than when it previously released before and hope for it to have a brighter future.
