LawBreakers Alpha Review: Chaos Is Our Currency
Too dramatic? I thought the title fitted my first impression quite well. Why?
Well... Imagine a shooter. The typical shooter, where you aim at the head of the guy that will probably appear around the corner, trusting in your own instincts to react before that guy does... then break gravity, add rocket launchers, plasma rays and shadows of people you are suppose to shoot at.
Yeah... that pretty much sums it up.
Yet, I guess I should explain a little more: LawBreakers is a Multiplayer first person shooter with great graphics and the greedy intention of starting a revolution in the FPS world by getting gravity out of the picture, and implementing roles with different abilities. In a previous article of mine, I put LawBreakers as a part of the movement Overwatch started, as I think it will be a rival in the future... but a good one?
That's another question.
Right now, all I can talk about is the Alpha, which I was able to play in two events, and got to test both currently released game modes.
Let's start shall we?
First, Imagine a disaster capable of damaging gravity itself. That's the Shattering, which in LawBreakers lore basically split the Earth... and also society. Governments are thin, drugs and violence are on the rise, so now there is a new war between The Law... and The Breakers. (OMG who would have guessed that!)
And this war can be currently fought by eight characters who fill four roles for both teams: Titan, an slow all mighty rocked launcher carrier; Vanguard, an Angel of Machinegun and Powder; Enforcer, the soldier with the rifle... and the bazooka.; And the Assassin, who will bring daggers to a rocket fight and win.
Each character has its own background... although there isn't much of an story at the moment.
