Although Blizzard’s team-based shooter Overwatch
has already started its first Alpha Test and Stress Test weekend, most of players like me are still watching streams and checking Email again and again for a precious beta key. If you are the lucky players who have been chosen for Beta but don’t know how to play Overwatch, you should read this post before playing this game. A Redditer named hahke
put together 55 useful tips for all players that are planning on playing this game.
In addition, you can also check out our Top 8 New Player Tips in Overwatch
to improve your strategy level in game.
1.) One of the most important things you can and need to do in Overwatch is: KILL THE SUPPORT.It's something that I've noticed on a lot of streams that people forget to do, or do not re-evaulate in the middle of a firefight. There is a chance you'll be able to do just enough damage to finish a player off if you were skirmishing with them before hand, but in most situations it is paramount to defeat the player that is going to support THAT guy and the rest of his team back up to full health and safety. Just remember what you learned from Team Fortress 2!
2.) It's possible for characters that place objects (but Winston, Bastion, and Tobjorn in particular) ontop of and near payloads while they're moving that will travel with the payload. Super monkeyball death turrets of doom can be achieved!
3.) Some characters in the game place "traps" like Widowmaker, Junkrat, and Symmetra. It's possible to destroy these things before they "trigger" or attack you. Keep your eyes open to save yourself and other teammates!
4.) Several characters have weapons that can penetrate through shields like Symmetra, Reinhardt, Winston, and Zarya.
5.) Hanzo and Widowmaker have "radars" available for their team. Don't always assume that you're sneaking up on opponents if you're aware of the enemy team having those characters!
6.) Reaper isn't actually invisible when he uses his Wraith Form. I've overheard on streams that people believe they're "stealthed" whenever they use his Wraith form, but it's primarily used as a tool to escape players when you're in danger, to reposition yourself in close-quarters to secure kills on targets that are foolish enough to follow you.
7.) Reaper is able to teleport from long distances, so keep a look out for his red smoke before he emerges to sneak upon you and your team.
8.) Tracer's Ultimate Ability (Pulse Bomb) can be used like a "sticky" grenade (like the Plasma Grenade from Halo) to stick players with a devastating ability. Try to stick it on the enemy team when they're grouped up ontop of an objective.
9.) Enemy Tracer giving you problems? Play McCree or Mei. Seriously. McCree is one of the best characters equipped to dealing with Tracer. A quick flashback will stun her long enough for him to use a full round of his peacekeeper for an easy kill.
