So Many MOBAs and Why That's a Good Thing
Here we are, another MOBA popping up around the corner, and we wonder... Do I switch, which one will have the most players. Should I even spend money? If you find yourself asking these questions then you've also found the right place.
I'm not saying Vainglory is the best MOBA, but i'm going to use it as an example. It has roughly half a million downloads, which is the average worth of a solid download... So, I checked it out. Being a LOL player, i'm all hmmm, they can improve here, but this is nice. Is that BARON, WTF? Basically, it's a good game. Finally a high enough level to team up with the friends, this game took me to another level. I found myself leaving LOL and playing Vainglory.
The mobility of the game is great, with comparable graphics and solid framework, I found my MOBA cravings conquered.
Two weeks later.
I find myself playing LOL again. :( The media and the buzz around the game is contagious, what makes it even better, is the rediculous prize pools hanging over every gamers head. (If every mobile game launched with a prize pool event tied to the release date, retention of the game would be so much greater.) Then I find myself downloading another MOBA, Ace of Arenas. Yup, another LOL clone, finely made with great controls. The same amount of downloads as Vainglory, yet getting a little more buzz.
I'll give it to them, Ace of Arenas is definitely spending money on advertising. And that does create an atmosphere where the game seems trendy. Look... I downloaded it, and here I am talking about it.
So many MOBAs. Back to the google store, completly played out of AOA in 3 weeks. Bouncing from Hearthstone, to LOL, to Vainglory, and back to AOA. We now have so many great choices, and the developers are listening intently on our fedeback. Each new game coming out slightly different from the rest, evolving. There is no reason why we gamers can't find "OUR GAME", and be the BEST.
So which game will you download next?
Whichever game you find yourself secrectly wanting more of.
