Na'Vi play in Summit 4 vs. NiP qualifiers with 2 stand-ins; no Xboct
In the last week Na'Vi has both disbanded, announced they will be signing a new roster and finally played with a squad that resembled the last one. The organisation said that they would be keeping DotA 2 poster boy Danil ‘Dendi’ Ishutin and outstanding newcomer Akbar ‘SoNNeikO’ Butaev and testing new players for the other spots, but it now looks like they have brought back Gleb ‘Funn1k’ Lipatnikov to the roster as well.
Earlier today the Ukrainian squad played against Ninjas in Pyjamas in the Summit 4 qualifiers with 2 familiar stand-ins in the CIS DotA 2 scene. Both Andrey ‘ALWAYSWANNAFLY’ Bondarenko (most recently on CIS Rejects and ex-Team Empire) and Dmitry ‘Ditya Ra’ Minenkov (currently playing carry for No Logic Gaming) were part of the Na’Vi team today, but it is unclear if they will remain.
Unfortunately, their ‘debut’ in the competitive scene didn’t produce the result they would have liked. Although the match went to the full 3 games, the coordination and teamwork from NiP prevailed over the fledgling Na’Vi team. It goes to show the difference a lasting roster can make: NiP has been together for over a year without changing a single player, which is something that has plagued Na’Vi since Clement ‘Puppey’ Ivanavov left to form Team Secret after TI4.
Unfortunately today’s game means Na’Vi will not be qualifying for the Summit 4, which adds another LAN event that they will not attend to their list. Fans of the team will be hoping for a revitalisation of the team following the news that they will be signing new players. However, whether or not these events will make a difference to the team’s 11 loss streak.
