Mineski and Fnatic both secure qualifier spots for the Frankfurt Major
The final games for the South East Asia qualifiers for Valve's first DotA 2 Major have concluded today. The two teams that will be making it through to the event in Frankfurt willbe Mineski and Fnatic. Mineski went through the upper bracket relatively unscathed, beating Fnatic 2-1 in the upper bracket finals to send Mushi's team to fight for their lives against NewTeam123.
The final moments of Mineski's qualification run were hyped to the extreme by the regional SEA cast, putting them in a good position for the LAN event in November.
As for Fnatic, they had to play a final best of 3 series to achieve their qualification spot in the Fall Major. What started out as a fairly even game 1 between the 2 teams, turned into a very one-sided affair. After taking the first game with a coordinated Medusa strat, Fnatic picked Black^ another signature hard farmer, this time in the form of 6.85 Alchemist.
Being the two favourites of the playoffs, the bracket went pretty much as expected. With no SEA teams directly invited, these 2 teams are the only participants in the Major to come out of the region. Hopefully they will do SEA proud and try and show their brand of DotA 2 on the international stage.
