Top 8 MMOs to Look Forward to at Gamescom 2015

2. Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward  - Square Enix (Hall 9, C51)

Square Enix prepared the “biggest line-up ever” for Gamescom 2015 with games like Just Cause 3, Life is Strange, Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below, Final Fantasy XIV and the upcoming blockbuster Final Fantasy XV. In the booth’s cinema, the attenders can check Hitman and Deus EX: Mankind Divided, while the fans of mobile games can try Lara Croft: Relic Run and Hitman Go.

Every time I hear something about Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, the “never give up” words come up front.  Unlike other developers that tried to create an open world for their single player blockbuster titles (caugh TESO) and failed to please their fans, Square Enix managed to fulfil our MMO desires for this franchise even if it took them two tries.

Heavensward is the first expansion that will expand the lore of Eorzea, with stories that will help players discover the background stories of several characters that were presented in the original game.  The three new combat jobs that came with this expansion are also hidden behind the 16 hours story content.

Besides introducing the Dark Night, Astrologian and Machinist jobs and the Raen and Xaela classes, a variety of stunning new zones became the real attraction. As the expansion name points, these new areas were developed for flying, especially after you get the new black chocobo mount.

The content between level 50 and 60 will take roughly as long as the original one, with some little grinding towards the end. The entire levelling process is filled with a mix of story, challenging dungeons that give you a sense of achievement when completed and an overall great designed content.

All these new features that will reinvigorate your journey through the lands of Eorzea helps Final Fantasy XIV to keep its spot as one of the best MMOs out there, so you should definitely keep an eye on Heavensward at Gamescom 2015.
