Black Desert Interview: 300 VS 300 Siege Battle In Development
Black Desert is currently preparing for the second closed beta in Korea. The game has the potential to be the next big game in the MMO world, and we talked to the Project Manager Ham Young-Chul at G-Star 2013 to dig out more about the game.
Q: The character creation system in the first closed beta was pretty simple. There will be more than a few options of face type, wouldn't it?
A: We definitely have the plan to provide more options and we will add them into the game in the future beta tests.
Q: It seemed that the siege battle system in the first closed beta was in very early stage. How you will improve this system?
A: Currently the siege battle support 40v40 fight but in the future it will be a massive 300v300 warfare. For now we have cannons but we will add more siege weapons such as excavator in the future.
Q: What's the focus of the second closed beta test?
A: We made adjustments on character skills and allowed players to learn more abilities at low level, and we will see how it work. Besides, we improved the NPC intimacy system as well as trading. We also added a new map for the 2nd CBT.
Q: How does the quest system look like?
A: The game doesn't reward you XP when you complete a quest, and instead, it increases your contribution rank in this area. With contribution ranks, you can accept more quests and unlock other content like trading. We have a type of quest called mini-game that includes hunting, fishing and mining. We are developing more interesting quests.
Q: How does a character level up without getting XP from quest?
A: Players gain XP and level up from killing monsters, gathering.
