H1Z1 Starter Guide: The Battle Royale
The Battle Royale: General Information
If you’ve been playing H1Z1 for a while, or read some of my previous guides then know that the game play mechanics for playing Battle Royale aren’t any different. Everything you’ve done previous to playing Battle Royale will still apply. However, there are a few key differences that don’t change the mechanics, but change how you play the game. First of all, understand that Battle Royale is purely a PvEvP(Player versus Environment versus Player) game type. You will be facing all the same things you normally would in the normal game, but with a Last-Man-Standing twist. If were to die in a Battle Royale, there is no respawning, so the way you play is even more important than when playing the normal game. Another note about this game type is how loot works. Just like with the normal game, you will start with nothing but your fist and a few storages items you can use to carry items with you. However, you will quickly realize that when you are playing Battle Royale, loot is everywhere. Guns and vehicles are plentiful and lying about, but it is still your job to find them. Finally, your goal in Battle Royale is to survive until all other players die out. This is extremely difficult for several reasons that I will cover later in this article.
The Battle Royale: Parachute into Hell
When a Battle Royale game starts, all players are spawned with an open parachute and are given the ability to somewhat guide it in any direction. As you are parachuting, you probably will not see the other 100-200 players with you. In this game type, they will all likely be trying to either kill you, or hide away until they are forced to engage. So, with all this in mind, you’re probably wondering what exactly you should do first to even have a chance at being the Last-Man Standing. Well, as started earlier, vehicles and weapons are littered throughout the game world, so your first priority is to land somewhere where these items will likely be. Thinking a little bit should tell you that landing near a town, if you can help it, would be ideal in the situation. However, you will not be the only player thinking this, and this complicates the situation a lot because the other plays will be trying to kill off their competition as soon as possible, as safely as possible. Despite this danger, it is imperative that you obtain some sort of gun to defend yourself as well as any working vehicle, because the biggest threat to your life in Battle Royale is not zombies or players. The single most dangerous threat in this game type is Poison Fog.
