Xiaocase's Heroic Highmaul handbook: Brackenspore
Brackenspore is the next encounter after The Butcher. He is a fungal giant which you have met hundreds of times in your past adventure. However, Brackenspore is certainly different from those enemies you had defeated. He is the first challenge for the team who can defeat Kargath Bladefist
and The Butcher easily. The difficulty of Brackenspore is in a higher level, even this fight don’s have harsh request for your DPS and item level. From here, you will experience the true challenge of Heroic Highmaul.
No special request for Tanks and Healers.
Three types of adds in this fight. All of them need to be clean up as soon as possible. Thus, bring
more DPS who are good at multiple targets fight (like Unholy Death Knight, Windwalker Monk,
Retribution Paladin, and Destruction Warlock).
Two key points in this fight. Those mushrooms are the first key point.
They spawn in the fight area randomly and periodically. They are in damaged state and need
healing. Once they are at full health, they will heal your team or offer your Buff.
You need one healer to look after Living Mushroom and one healer to look after Rejuvenating Mushroom.
For Living Mushroom
When living Mushroom at full health, it will heals all players within 20 yards.
You should use this to counter another ability of Boss.
This is a high damage AOE to all players.
So, what you need to do is:
1. maintain living Mushroom at high health(about 80% to 90%).
2. But don’t heal it to full until Boss use Infesting Spores.
3. Keep maintaining it until the AOE end.
Remember: Don’t let living Mushroom die or heal it to full to early. You can hardly keep your
health without Living Spores when Boss use AOE.
For Rejuvenating Mushroom
This fight will last for a long time. You need Rejuvenating Mushroom to increase DPS and
regenerate Mana. Most of time, heal Rejuvenating Mushroom to full as soon as possible and
maintain it as long as possible.
Important tips: In some case, you need to give up one of the mushroom. Making your
decision base on the situation. If your team are in a bad health, give up Rejuvenating Mushroom
to keep everyone living. If your healers’ Mana are about over, give up living Mushroom.
The second key point in this fight: two Flamethrowers
Before activating Boss, you can find two Flamethrowers on the ground.
You should use them to counter one of Boss’s ability
Two players need to use those Flamethrowers to burn moss. If your do it too slowly, the Moss will sprawl on the whole area. If your use the Flamethrowers too frequently, the Flamethrowers will
overheating and can not be use for 10 seconds.
Let the best players in your team to use Flamethrowers. This job request long time practice.
Because of buring Infusion, they can also contribute very high DPS in this fight. Train your Hunter
or Warlock, give them time to practice. They will become the key to this fight.
Important tips: Don’t forget to hide in the heal area of Living Mushroom when Boss use AOE!
1. All of the adds need to be clean up as soon as possible.
2. You need at least two melee DPS to interrupt the Fungal Flesh-Eaters Decay(very high damage
3. Tanks hold Boss close to two types of mushrooms. If they are too far to each other, hold Boss
close to Living mushroom.
No fixed stand position in this fight. It’s base on the location of mushrooms.
The whole fight process looks like this:
Find a mushroom→maintain mushroom→everyone move to mushroom→ when Boss use AOE,
heal mushroom to full→mushroom die→ find another mushroom.
Maintaining mushroom and burning Moss are the most difficulty jobs in this fight. Multiple times
practices are necessary.
Keep trying and don’s give up.
