Lost Ark Preview – A True MMORPG
When I first saw Smilegate's announcement for their latest title, I was like err … another hack and slash game with some awesome graphics (you know that every Korean game, no matter how bad it is, it will always earn a ten out of ten for the graphic level).
After the recent details presented a G-Star 2014, and from the latest trailers and gameplay videos, I came to realize that Lost Ark is more than a simple hack and slash game, and now I dare to call it a MMORPG. Let’s take a look at some of its features that makes it stand out from the genre.
Lost Ark – Class System
At the moment there are 7 classes available: Battle Master, Devil Hunter, Arcana, Warlord, Berserker, Summoner and Chi Fighter, and this is only the beginning as Smilegate said that there are more classes under development. Each character has a set of eight abilities and one unique finishing move.
Battle Master is a female character, specialized in close combat that can deliver powerful attacks through different combos. She’s very agile and with the help of her special combos she will be able to initiate attacks or get out of dangerous situations in no time. By unleashing her elemental gauge she can destroy hordes of minions with a single blow.
Devil Hunter (Demon Hunter)
The Devil Hunter is a class suited for advanced MMORPG players, as you will have to make the most of the three different stances (you will be able to change these stances on the go by pressing the 1 to 3 keys from your keyboard).
The first stance allows you to equip a Double Handgun in order to eliminate fast approaching weaklings. If you are dealing with larger enemies you will be able to switch to your Shotgun stance that helps you deal some extra damage. Last but not least, the Sniper stance will let you deal with your enemies from a safe distance. Note that skills from all stances will deal AoE damage.
